This is Chris' first attempt at hand carving a longbow. A neighborhood friend outright GAVE him a couple pieces
of an 8" dia ash log to play with. Chris immediately started thinking about longbows.

Chris did all his research via the local library, entirely done on his own. He would bounce ideas and thoughts
off me once in a while but this was 100% his work and motivation.

Chris did not have a tillering board to establish the draw force equalization of the bow so he made one.
He wanted to have a flemmish type string but wanted to know how to make one so he did some more research and
made a jig for making these bowstrings.

He started with a drawknife and went to a spokeshave, then hand plane, then massaged it with some sand paper.
Chris estimates the bow is 40 lbs pull at his 28" draw length. The bow is NOT a toy. It shoots accurately.
Chris normally has a very tight "group" with his compound bow (set to
60 lbs) in target practice.
He says with a smile "this bow shoots just fine".

As I said - Chris did all his own research on this. All I did was empower him with motivation and how to
correctly use his tools.

Chris did this when he was 16 in his sophomore year of homeschooling.
